Our Glass

Q: Do Royston Glass manufacture their splashbacks in-house?

A: We most certainly do. Unlike many in the industry, we manufacture our Glass splashbacks in house. From glass cutting, polishing, processing and painting, we do it all here on site.

Q: What type of glass do Royston Glass use for their splashbacks?

A: We offer several finishes; Gloss, Matt, Textured and Mirror. Our Gloss, Matt and Textured finishes are manufactured using Low Iron Glass.

We use 6mm Low Iron Glass for all of our coloured glass splashbacks, toughened to British Standard (BS 6206-EN12600) so it is safe for use behind your hob. All our splashbacks also come with polished edges for your safety.

Toughened Plain Silver, Grey and Bronze Mirror is also available.

Q: Do Royston Glass manufacture products using different glass thicknesses?

A: Yes we do. As a specialist glass processing hub, we are able to accommodate 4mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, and 19mm glass thicknesses on our state of the art CNC machine.

Q: Is low iron glass truly clear?

A: The answer is yes. 6mm Low Iron Glass is the best in the business and enables us to achieve a true colour clarity. By minimising the iron content in the glass manufacture process the green hue ordinarily visible in standard float glass, used by others in the industry, is reduced and therefore provides a truly clear glass

Colour Options

Q: Do Royston Glass offer a colour match service?

A: Yes we do. Simply send us a swatch of the shade you are looking for in the form of fabric, tile or painted card and we will use our extensive collection of in house colour swatches to achieve a match.

Alternatively, if we can't match your shade using our library of swatches, we have the facility to analyse the colour using a spectrometer which we can use to calibrate a matching specialist glass paint formula to achieve your match.

Q: What colour options do Royston Glass offer?

A: As well as any available RAL, NCS or British Standard colour, Royston Glass is able to produce Glass Paint Colour Matches to the majority of high street paints. We are also able to offer a full Glass Paint Colour Match Service. 

Q: Do Royston Glass offer sparkle effect finishes?

A: Yes: we are able to offer a number of specialist finishes: for example, we can add sparkle effect  to all of our flat colours. The sparkle effect is available from fine through to course cut and can be used to varied effect.  (Sparkle Effect Finishes are not Available for Metallic colours)

Q: Do Royston Glass offer colour samples?

A: Yes we do! Samples of all our colour options are available to purchase.

We offer any available RAL, NCS and British Standard colour, in addition to colour matches to the majority of high street paint colours. 

Samples cost £6.00 each including VAT and P&P - just give us a call or and we'll advise the best approach to make sure you get the sample you require. Payment can be made over the telephone by Debit/Credit card.

Delivery & Installation

Q: What is the maximum sized splashback Royston Glass can send out for delivery?

A: The maximum size we can send in the courier is based on a combination of the height, width and depth of the packaged item. Unfortunately, this means there is not hard or fast maximum size. Please send your enquiry to us via the Contact Us page and we will send you a quotation, including costing for delivery, as soon as possible.

Q: How long does it take from the point of order, to delivery at my address?

A: It can take up to 10 working days for Royston Glass to deliver your splashback. Often delivery can be quicker but if you require delivery earlier, or by a specific date, we will do our best to help. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

As standard, we will contact you by phone when your glass is ready for dispatch to arrange a convenient day for you to take receipt of it.

Q: What days of the week do Royston Glass deliver splashback orders?

A: Using our trusted courier, we deliver Wednesday to Friday every week, with the exception of bank holidays. Saturday delivery is unfortunately not currently available.

Can Royston Glass Do It?

Q: What is the maximum sized splashback Royston Glass can manufacture in a single piece?

A: Royston Glass Splashbacks are available in dimensions up to 3000mm x 1250mm. We may be able to manufacture in excess of these dimensions but such orders may be subject to site access and oversize surcharge. Please contact us for details.

Q: Can I place a repeat order?

A: Yes you can. You should be aware however that there may be a minimal colour difference due to paint batch processes. In these circumstances it is recommended that you contact us before placing the order so that we can do our utmost to replicate the original batch shade.

Q: Will Royston Glass visit me to provide a free no obligation quotation?

A: Firstly we will ask you for some approximate dimensions of the glass you require, the number of socket cut-outs and whether you glass requires any shaping. Based upon this information we can generate an initial costing. This approach enables our customers to make informed budgeting decisions. These dimensions can be supplied to us over the phone, by fax or via our contact us page.

If you are then happy to proceed based upon this estimate, we will then arrange for a site survey to be conducted by our team of surveyors. Your initial quotation will then be confirmed or amended to reflect any project adjustments identified on site. At this point a 50% non-refundable deposit is payable to place your bespoke glass into production. It's that easy.

Q: Do Royston Glass offer sparkle effect finishes?

A: Yes: we are able to offer a number of specialist finishes: for example, we can add sparkle effect  to all of our flat colours. The sparkle effect is available from fine through to course cut and can be used to varied effect.  (Sparkle Effect Finishes are not Available for Metallic colours)

Q: Do Royston Glass offer colour samples?

Technical Information

Q: What is a radius corner?

A: Due to the nature of glass, it is not possible to create a socket cut-out with 90° corners, or  90° internal corners in glass. They instead come with 6mm (minimum) radius corners.

Effectively, these corners are a quarter segment of a perfect circle, with a radius of 6mm.

As such, allowances must be made when measuring a splashback to accommodate the radius corner. Please see the diagram below for a visual guide to radius corners. If you would like more information or advice, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Q: How much silicone adhesive do I need?

A: One tube of Silicone Adhesive is sufficient for fixing up to 1.8m² of glass to the wall. If you are purchasing just one splashback for use behind your hob which is under this area, 1 tube of our Silicone Adhesive will be sufficient.

Remember, if you are buying multiple splashbacks at once, bear in mind the total area (m²) you are covering.

Q: What is the difference between matt & gloss finishes?

A: Our Gloss Finish utilises the high shine, reflective qualities of the glass the splashback is made from. Because our splashbacks are back painted, these qualities are present on the front surface of your splashback, giving a Gloss Finish.

Our Matt Finish Glass splashbacks however have undergone an additional process during manufacture, meaning the front surface of the splashback no longer has the reflective shine of the Gloss finish, but has instead a Matt finish. This finish means splashbacks manufactured using this glass are more subtle than their gloss cousins, introducing colour to a room without the same bang, but with no less impact.

Payment Methods

Q: What are Royston Glass' Terms of Payment?

A: Unless you hold a trade account with us (and have been notified of the associated terms of payment) the following terms are applicable to orders placed with us:

  • all Supply & Delivery or Collection Only orders must be paid for in full at the point of order.
  • a non-refundable 50% deposit is payable to facilitate the manufacture of the glass for all Template and Installation Customers. The deposit must be received before manufacture of your bespoke splashbacks can begin. The Balance of the order is payable prior to installation.

Q: How can I pay for my order?

A: You can pay for your order by telephone by Debit/Credit Card.

Royston Glass is Worldpay approved. As such you can be assured that your data and privacy are fully secure and that Royston Glass is PCI compliant.

You will always receive an order confirmation/payment receipt from Royston Glass via email.

In certain circumstances, BACS details are available for those wishing to pay by Bank Transfer though it should be noted, manufacture of the order will not commence until the bank credit has been confirmed.

For Template & Installation customers: both deposit & balancing payments may be made by any of the following methods:

  • BACS transfer (details available on request)
  • Cheque by post

Please note however, that in the case of deposit payments, your glass will not be placed into manufacture until payment by any of the methods stated above has been processed and cleared.

Conversely, installation will not be undertaken until payment by any of the methods stated above has been processed and cleared.

Q: Do Royston Glass accept American Express?

A: Unfortunately, we are not able to process payments using American Express Cards. We do however accept VISA, VISA Debit, VISA Electron, MasterCard, Solo and JCB cards for payment via telephone.

How to Order Bespoke Splashbacks

Q: How do I get a quotation for a bespoke splashback?

A: Whether a DIY or installation project the easiest way to get a quotation for a bespoke splashback (shaped, with cut outs, bespoke colour, bespoke finish) is to send us the dimensions of the splashback and the details of the special requirements you have via our contact us page. We aim to get back to you within 24hrs (Mon-Fri) with a no obligation quotation.

Q: Once I've had a quotation, how do I proceed with my order?

A: Once you have received your quotation from Royston Glass, placing your order is easy. Simply give us a call on 01226 700027, its helpful if you can provide your quotation reference number (e.g.: RG12345), and we will process your order over the telephone. Alternatively we are happy to receive your order via email.

Q: What information does Royston Glass need to manufacture a bespoke splashback?

A: In order to manufacture your bespoke splashback, Royston glass requires the following information:

  • The overall width and height of the splashback (in mm, to the widest and highest point)
  • For any curved edges, a cardboard or MDF template is required so we can manufacture your bespoke splashback to the exact parameters you require.
  • The location (to centre) of any Socket Cut-outs you may require, and whether the cut-out should accommodate single or double sockets.

Q: What is the maximum sized splashback Royston Glass can send out for delivery?

A: Items up to 1200mm in length can be sent using our trusted courier. If the splashback you require is longer than this, we may still be able to deliver to you; please send your enquiry to us via the Contact Us page and we will send you a quotation, including costing for alternative delivery, as soon as possible.

Cancellation

Q: Can I cancel my order?

A: Unfortunately, there is no right to cancel an order once payment/deposit has been received. As goods are manufactured bespoke to customer specification they are as such custom made. Please refer to 'The Customer Contracts Regulations 2014 for full details.

Q: Can I return my order if I decide I no longer want it?

A: Unfortunately, there is no right to cancel an order once payment/deposit has been received. As goods are manufactured bespoke to customer specification they are as such custom made. Please refer to 'The Customer Contracts Regulations 2014 for full details.

Q: What guarantee is offered on Royston Glass splashbacks?

A: Royston Glass will use reasonable endeavours to repair or replace free of charge, any coating which is found to be de-laminating or discolouring within a period of five (5) years from the delivery date. This guarantee is subject to full payment for all products, charges, fees and reasonable notice by the customer of such fault to Royston Glass. The customer must maintain and clean the product (s) in a proper manner. This guarantee excludes wilful damage and normal wear and tear.

Other specific exclusions can be found in our Terms and Conditions of Sale (Section 4.4, Subsections m & n).

An installation undertaken by Royston Glass is valid for twelve (12) months from the installation date.

The guarantee only applies to the customer noted on the order form and is not transferable. This does not affect any Statutory Rights.
